Cordwainer Smith Rediscovery Award
Entry updated 2 August 2023. Tagged: Award.
A juried life achievement Award set up in memory of Cordwainer Smith by the Cordwainer Smith Foundation, intended to honour notable sf and fantasy authors who in the view of the judging panel either did not receive or no longer receive as much attention as they deserve. It was first presented to Olaf Stapledon at the 2001 Worldcon, and is now given annually at the US literary Convention Readercon. The award is usually made posthumously, exceptions being the 2011 and 2023 presentations to Katherine MacLean and Josephine Saxton. No award was given in 2022, since that year's Readercon was cancelled. [DRL]
