Bomba Films

A series of twelve Jungle Movies [see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below] starring Johnny Sheffield, who had played, alongside Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan, the part of Tarzan's adopted son Boy in eight of the Tarzan Films; the character came from the Bomba the Jungle Boy series of twenty books written by John William Duffield and published 1926-1938 under the House Name Roy Rockwood. These films were a rather too obvious cut-price attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the Tarzan series, and have been more or less forgotten: they are Bomba the Jungle Boy (1949), Bomba on Panther Island (1949), The Lost Volcano (1949), The Hidden City (1949) – this and the previous film containing Lost-Race elements – The Lion Hunters (1951), Bomba and the Elephant Stampede (1951), African Treasure (1952), Bomba and the Jungle Girl (1952), Safari Drums (1953), The Golden Idol (1954), Killer Leopard (1954) and Lord of the Jungle (1955).
