(1851-1917) US politician, editor and author of a Future War Parody, A Dream of Conquest (June 1889 Lippincott's Monthly Magazine; 1890), which features a moderately spoofed Yellow Peril Invasion of Key West, which is virtually unmanned, and eventually New York, destroying the city. The it-was-all-a-dream conclusion of the tale may not have been intended literally. [JC]
