According to publisher Brill, the launching of Dinosaur Times in the same year as Jurassic Park (1993) was a coincidence, the magazine having been planned for about two years. Aimed without reservations at children, it featured contests, Games and puzzles along with a pull-out poster of Dinosaurs each month. More serious material included interviews with Michael Crichton and various nonfiction items on dinosaurs. Brill had been a co-publisher of The Monster Times in the 1970s, and this title bore more than a passing resemblance to its ancestor. Unfortunately the vogue for such relatively innocent magazines seemed to have largely passed by the 1990s, and Dinosaur Times quickly ceased operations. [GSt/DRL]
