Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.

(1948-    ) UK author, almost all of whose work has articulated Feminist concerns and arguments; of her several novels from 1968 on, Benefits (1979) is of sf interest for its Dystopian vision of the fate of women in the twenty-first century, as advances in reproductive technologies permit males to exercise greater control, in fear and loathing, over the female half of the race. "Relics" (in Despatches from the Frontiers of the Female Mind, anth 1985, ed Jen Green and Sarah Lefanu), is fantasy. [JC]
