(1962- ) UK palaeontologist and evolutionary biologist who is a senior editor of Nature and introduced the "Futures" columns of sf vignettes in this science magazine. One hundred of these stories are collected as Futures from Nature (anth 2007), edited and introduced by Gee, and a second hundred in Nature Futures 2: Science Fiction from the Leading Science Journal (anth 2014 ebook) edited with Colin Sullivan. The Sigil Trilogy, comprising Siege of Stars (2012), Scourge of Stars (2012) and Rage of Stars (2012), is widescreen action-adventure Space Opera on a galactic scale. His other publications include The Science of Middle-Earth: Explaining The Science Behind The Greatest Fantasy Epic Ever Told! (2004), using J R R Tolkien's creation as the excuse for an entertaining popular-science discourse. [DRL]
