(1950- ) UK screenwriter and author, whose several novelizations of the film Small Soldiers (1998) (see Toys in SF) for the Young Adult and younger children markets include Small Soldiers (1998), Small Soldiers: The Gorgonites' s Quest (1998) and Small Soldiers: Top Secret Dossier (1998). The underlying premise of the film is that advanced Technology, specifically a combat-oriented AI, when introduced into action toys, may have unexpected consequences. Of perhaps greater interest has been his Television work for adults, including creating and producing The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne (2000), featuring the young Jules Verne in an Alternate History where he and characters from his future novels must attempt to thwart a reactionary organization which has absconded with his Inventions in order to maintain monarchical rule throughout Europe.
