(? - ) US author who specializes in Young Adult fiction, including her first work of genre interest, "The Necromancer's Apprentice" in Expanded Horizons for August 2012. The Rebelwing sequence beginning with Rebelwing (2020) is set in a balkanized, surreally shattered, Dystopian Near Future America divided into various safe Zones surrounded by petty Religion-dominated fiefdoms; the young protagonist, a smuggler of proscribed media in her spare time, is rescued from one of these fiefdoms by a Mecha dragon. In the second volume, Renegade Flight (2021), which is set several years later, a young dragon pilot-operator on suspension becomes involved in a deadly tournament. Various characters from the first volume reappear, conveying some sense that a larger narrative reality is being sampled.
Of Tang's singletons, Kingdom of Without (2023), an Alternate History, is set in the Near Future of a China facing internal revolution. These Deadly Prophecies (2024) is fantasy. [JC]
