Scott, Alan

(1947-    ) UK author whose sf novel, Project Dracula (1971; vt The Anthrax Mutation 1976), features an explosion in a Near Future UK research facility in a Space Station, which indirectly releases 1500 experimental bats infected with anthrax. A Pandemic is threatened (see Disaster). [JC/DRL]

Film (1982). New World. Directed by Aaron Lipstadt. Written by James Reigle and Opper, based on a story by Will Reigle. Cast includes Crofton Hardester, Brie Howard, Klaus Kinski, Don Opper and Norbert Weisser. 80 minutes. Hewson, David

(1953-    ) UK journalist and author, most of whose novels are detective thrillers, and whose Solstice (1998) anticipates global Disaster when the Millennium arrives, including a spasm of sunspots, and the use of armed satellites in near orbit. Native Rites (2000) is horror. [JC]

Wetanson, Burt

Working name of US screenwriter and author Burton R Wetanson (1934-    ), who collaborated with Thomas Hoobler (who see for details) on the Hunters sequence comprising The Hunters (1978) and The Treasure Hunters (1983). [JC]
