(1951- ) Welsh-born UK chemist, teacher and author who has published sf and fantasy novels under his own name and as Christopher Carpenter, Nathan Elliott, Robert Knight and John Lyon, and some non-genre fiction as by Evan Christie and Alwyn Davies. Shumway, Harry Irving
(1883-1974) US author whose The Wonderful Voyages of Cap'n Pen (coll 1929) comprises a set of tales told within a Club Story setting, and clearly fantasticated. "The Voyage of the Good Ship Luna" ostensibly carries the Captain to the Moon by Rocket, but a misfire may make this outcome doubtful. Most of the tales are nautical. [JC]

(1909-1964) US author whose borderline-sf Satire, The Golden Kazoo (1956), which anatomizes the Madison Avenue nature of the (Near-Future) 1960 presidential election, which he saw as foolishly Computer-dominated. [JC]
