(1920-1976) US author whose sf novel, Autopsy for a Cosmonaut (1969; vt Death of a Cosmonaut 1970), with John M Keshishian, describes a Near-Future space crisis in which NASA attempts a space rendezvous with a Soviet satellite suspected of harbouring a nuclear warhead. [JC]
Troubetzkoy, Princess Mariya
Married name of UK author Muriel Marie Beddam (? -? ), sometimes given as Princess Paul Troubetzkoy; her husband, Paolo or Paul Troubetskoy (1866-1938), was a Russian painter and sculptor, in western Europe after 1917. Exodus A.D.: A Warning to Civilians (1934) with C R W Nevinson, set in the Near Future, anticipates a continuation of strife throughout Europe. [JC]
