Phillips, L M
(? -? ) US author who seems to have published only two novels, one of which, The Mind Reader (1896), is of sf interest as its hero has, and exercises, the power of Telepathy during his adventures in the American West. The tale eventually moves eccentrically into occult matters, touching on Theosophy en route. [JC]
Appleby, Ken
Working name of UK author Kenneth Philip Appleby (1953- ), whose first sf novel, The Voice of Cepheus (1989), presents a clear-voiced, optimistic vision of the consequences of First Contact with an Alien species whose signals have been detected by the young female protagonist and her astronomer boss. Corey, Paul
(1903-1992) US reporter and author in various genres, active from as early as 1934 with "Their Forefathers Were Presidents" for Story, though his first work of genre interest, "Operation Survival" for New Worlds, did not appear until December 1962.
