(1937-2021) Tanzanian-born screenwriter, journalist and author, in Canada from his late teens. Most of his novels are non-fantastic political thrillers, though the first, The Trudeau Papers (1971), depicts a successful Near-Future American Invasion of Canada, in which the victors use Vietnam-era napalm against the native Canadians, and "accidentally" unleash nuclear Weapons. Much of the tale depicts the guerrilla resistance of Canadians to the take-over, which had been effected in order to "protect" the commercial interests of the behemoth to the South. The Trudeau of the title is of course Pierre Trudeau (1919-2000), who became prime minister in 1980. [JC]
