(1951- ) US author, almost exclusively of Westerns set in Texas, in his native Pecos country; he began his career, however, with two sf novels: The Shakwa (1979) with Al Kinney Jr, writing together as Gene March, whose protagonist is drawn through Hyperspace into a kind of dreamland, where he becomes the eponymous figure of great power and destiny; and Starflight to Faroul (1980), a metaphysical Space Opera whose heroes escape Prison in order to find the eponymous planet, where creation may have begun (see Cosmology).
