Finley, Jeremy

(?   -    ) US investigative reporter and author, of sf interest in the latter capacity for the William Chance and Lynn Roseworth sequence comprising The Darkest Time of Night (2018) and The Dark Above (2019), in which the disappearance of a young boy, who may have been abducted (see Aliens; Invasion; UFO), is investigated over the years by two women, neither young, both convincingly presented as competent persons (seer Women in SF). Government conspiracies are uncovered (see Paranoia). In the second volume, the young boy, having been discovered after fifteen years, finds himself menaced by nearly everyone he meets; accompanied by a girl companion with Psi Powers, he attempts to trace down a conspiracy whose ramifications are planetary. Finley's style, which combines thriller turns and paranormal mood pieces, matches his subject. [JC]
