Hutchison, Don

(1931-    ) Canadian cinematographer, editor, journalist and author, also long involved in sf Fandom in Canada; his fiction of interest is limited to one story, "Let the Serpent Beguile" (Trumpet #6 1967). The Great Pulp Heroes (1995) is a useful nonfiction study, occasionally breezy. He remains best known for his Northern Frights Original Anthology sequence beginning with Northern Frights (anth 1992; vt Northern Frights: Volume 1 2015), initially described as focusing on Dark Fantasy but soon encompassing the whole of Fantastika, with some emphasis on a noir vision of the Northern Wilderness (for Dark Fantasy above and Water Margins here see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below). Most contributors were Canadian by birth or residence (see Canada).

Hutchison is a contributor to this encyclopedia. [JC]
