Kropp, Lloyd

(1937-    ) US composer and author none of whose novels can be read primarily as sf, though each touches, at times with some Equipoisal drive, on sf: The Drift (1969) is a kind of Lost World tale set in the heart of the Sargasso Sea, where an enclosed culture has evolved in ignorance of the outside world; Who Is Mary Stark? (1974) examines the lives of two dislocated men through attempts to plumb the possibly supernatural effects of the eponymous (but dead) protagonist on them; One Hundred Times to China (1979) describes a search for sanctuary in safe mountains through implied Post-Holocaust landscapes; and Greencastle and the Denizens of the Sacred Crypt (1984) describes the coming of age of two sf-obsessed adolescents in the 1950s.
