(1974- ) US author who focused on horror in her earlier career, for which she has won several awards, beginning to publish work of genre interest with "Heat" in EOTU Ezine for December 2000. Her first novel, The Keeper (2006), begins the Keeper sequence of horror tales [not listed below]. Her first work of strong sf interest is the Near Future Good Neighbors (2021), a Horror in SF tale recounting in Satirical terms the disintegrative consequences on a Long Island community of the sudden appearance of a sinkhole. The centre does not hold. A Better World (2024) is set rather farther into a Near Future America suffering from social disintegration and the impelling catastrophe of Climate Change; the protagonists, properly desperate from anxieties, migrate to a small seemingly traditional town of Plymouth Valley which (see again Horror in SF) not unexpectedly proves to be a trap, a non-exit Zone. A Feminist current in the tale deepens when the protagonist is gaslit by her husband after she tells him that not all is well in paradise. [JC]
