Mallory, Tess

(?   -    ) US author whose romantic Time Travel series, the loose Highland Dream sequence beginning with Highland Dream (2001), intertwines Sex and Time Travel, with American women travelling to contemporary Scotland in search of mates, from whence they experience involuntary transit to seventeenth century Scotland, elongating any simple romantic outcome. In Highland Fling (2003) the pattern is reversed, with a Scots lad transported to contemporary Texas and into the arms of a brilliant female physicist. The series continues to stitch back and forth, eventually involving a singer-songwriter (see Music).

Mallory's singletons are similar, though To Touch the Stars (1998) is a dynastic Space Opera set in a minor Galactic Empire. [JC]
