McMahon, Donna

(1959-    ) Canadian author who began to publish work of genre interest with "The Last Resort" for Tomorrow: Speculative Fiction in December 1994, and whose Ruined Earth Drowned City sequence, comprising Dance of Knives (2001) and Second Childhood (2010), and which is set in and around a Vancouver half-inundated as a consequence of Holocaust and Climate Change; through the bioaltered protagonist – within whose presentation of self various earlier selves jostle (including a Frankenstein Monster figure) – Gender issues are explored fairly exhaustively.
