Mendoza, Paola

(?   -    ) Colombian actor, director, screenwriter and author, in USA from childhood, variously active from around 2000, much of her work as an activist being reflected in her first novel, Sanctuary (2020) with Abby Sher, a Near Future Young Adult tale set in a Dystopian America some time after a president of the country, freshly elected to a third term, begins to construct his Great American Wall between America and Mexico. The young protagonist, whose parents did not escape deportation raids, in order to survive the world of 2040 must herself undergo something of a Fantastic Voyage across America to the independent state of California, where she may gain some safe purchase on a life worth living.
