Orr, Wendy

(1953-    ) Canadian-born author, mostly resident in Australia; of her novels for children and for the Young Adult market, one is of sf interest: A Light in Space (1994; vt Mind Blowing! 1994), in which a young lad with the gift of Telepathy finds himself in intimate communication with an Alien who, despite its seeming friendliness, is on Earth to evaluate the planet for exploitable natural resources. Orr's best known book, Nim's Island (1999), is nonfantastic. [JC]
