Sessions, Richard

(?   -    ) US neuroscientist and author in whose first sf novel, Island Woman (1997), a contemporary woman is in a sense kidnapped via Timeslip into eighteenth century New Spain (see California), where it is intended that she create an Alternate History of America; her immersion in the Native American Chumash civilization is anthropologically sound and strongly engaging. The protagonist of his second novel, the medical Technothriller Gregory's Anomaly (2013), suggests that young Gregory's brain lesion may be evidence of his representing another chain in human Evolution, and being of Neanderthal stock (see Apes as Human); the most conspicuous manifestation of his uniqueness is the ability to control others at a distance (see Psi Powers).
