Unsworth, Tania

(?   -    ) UK-born author resident in the USA from early adulthood, daughter of the novelist Barry Unsworth (1930-2012); her early work, beginning with The Seahorse (2002) is nonfantastic. She is of sf interest for The One Safe Place (2014), a Young Adult Near Future tale set initially on a farm declining inexorably due to catastrophic Climate Change which has created a Ruined Earth world. After the protagonist leaves home for the Dystopian City, the story darkens further on his discovery that the institution he has been settled into is a coercive Keep designed to tap the psychic and physical resources of adolescents on behalf of much-older figures dominant in this world. The Secret Life of Daisy Fitzjohn (2016) is horror. [JC]
