Wood, Christopher

(1935-2015) UK screenwriter and author, in the latter capacity most successful with his Confessions sequence of nonfantastic Sex comedies beginning with Confessions of a Window Cleaner (1974) as by Timothy Lea [series not listed below]. He was the screenwriter for two James Bond films. The Technothriller The Spy Who Loved Me (1997) – which has no plot elements in common with Ian Fleming's The Spy Who Loved Me (1962) – was co-scripted with Richard Maibaum; the outright sf Moonraker (1979), very loosely based on Fleming's Moonraker (1955) was scripted by Wood alone. He novelized these productions as, respectively, James Bond, the Spy Who Loved Me (1977) – the first Bond film novelization – and James Bond and Moonraker (1979). Kago (1985) is an adventure tale set in New Guinea, where treasure-seekers stumble into a Lost World. [DRL]
