Working name of US actor and director Levardis Burton (1957- ), who has been much involved in the Star Trek enterprises, playing Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and directing several episodes in that and other Star Trek series; he signs his first name as LeVar. His sf novel, Aftermath: A Novel of the Future (1997), somewhat woodenly espouses a pacific end to a Near Future war when "people of colour" take over the world in 2019. [JC]
