Abela, Deborah

Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.

(1966-    ) Australian author of the Max Remy sequence of Young Adult Humour beginning with Max Remy: In Search of the Time and Space Machine (2002; vt Max Remy: Spy Force: The Time and Space Machine 2005 UK as by D Abela). The Grimsdon sequence, comprising Grimsdon (2010) and New City (2014), perhaps more interestingly (if in a manner excessively sprightly) depicts the survival of a group of adolescents in the eponymous Near Future City, which has been devastated by great floods caused by Climate Change. The second volume takes them to a second eponymous city, a Dystopian enclave where refugees are persecuted. [JC]
