(1984- ) US musician, author and artist, of Nigerian descent, best known for his politically engaged, maximalist electronic music collages, and as co-founder of the short-lived but influential record label and musicians' collective NON Worldwide. His ongoing project Eroica takes various forms across different media, beginning with the Near-Future, Cyberpunk-inflected novel Eroica (2020), in which missing person reports appear to be linked to cases of "onticide", a "disappearance of self" which theorists such as Calvin Warren and Jasmine Shirey link to a crisis in Black Identity (see also Race in SF). Sections of the book are written in Mandarin, Sanskrit and computer code, in line with Amobi's ongoing attempt to provide alternatives to traditional Western models. From 2021 Amobi exhibited paintings and created a fashion line linked to the novel, followed by two albums, Eroica (2024) and Eroica II: Christian Nihilism (2025), and a short film, Eroica (2024), written and directed by Nathan De Paz Habib, for which Amobi wrote the music and played the lead role.
