(?   -    ) US academic and author, in UK from early adulthood. Her first novel, Remembered (2019), which is not sf, uses ghost topoi out of the toolkit of Fantastika to guide its 1910 protagonists psychopomp-like into an understanding of their ancestors' lives in Slavery. Curdle Creek (2024) comes close to Alternate History in its description of the eponymous polder between 1864 and a present not quite extending into the Near Future [for Polder see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below]. The life in Curdle Creek is ritually formulated to maintain its strict boundary maintenance: outside is a world inimical to Black people (see Race in SF); within are the apotropaic ceremonies and sacrifices necessary for survival in the American heartland.
