(1949- ) Canadian bibliographer, publisher and editor specializing in studies of H P Lovecraft and other weird fiction, initially in the Bibliography Howard Phillips Lovecraft: The Books 1915-1981 (1981 chap), which was followed by further titles in the Howard Phillips Lovecraft: The Books sequence [see Checklist below] to 1987. This time period also saw the Lovecraft-focused Amateur Magazines FuBar (6 issues 1983-1987) and Les Bibliothèques (8 issues March 1974-April 1987), both from Bell's own Toronto-based Small Press Soft Books, the latter often with cover art by himself signed "Jo". The first five issues of Les Bibliothèques were devoted to the editor's five-part "An Annotated Chronology of the Writing & Printing of the Works of H.P. Lovecraft".
Further author bibliographies compiled by Bell are William Hope Hodgson: Night Pirate: Volume One: An Annotated Bibliography of Published Works (1987 chap) – see the William Hope Hodgson entry for Volume Two, also from Soft Books but with a different author; The Books of Clark Ashton Smith (1987 chap), on Clark Ashton Smith; and The Books of Clive Barker (1988 chap).
