(1865-1951) US author of Young Adult adventure novels, including The Lost Aviators: A Story of Adventure (1924), a Lost Race tale in which a young aviator (see Airplane Boys) discovers a Mayan civilization in Honduras; The Moon Colony (1937), in which the protagonists, adventurously travelling to the Moon, find there a Planetary Romance-style colony, complete with giant grasshoppers which can be ridden like horses; The Sacred Scimiter (1938), a fantasy set in Arabia; and The Secret of Tibet (1938), which is also a Lost Race tale featuring Airplane Boys.
