(? - ) Bengali journalist and author whose first novel, General Firebrand and His Red Atlas (2024), edges into almost allegorical intensities in its depiction of the eponymous rebel leader, the Dystopian government he is attempting to overthrow, the confabulated beasts and Avatars and grotesques, and the creatures visible through Timeslips, who dance through the aroused tale. Some characters – who might be described in terms of Magic Realism – had featured in an uncompleted novel written by his father, the Bengali author Nabarun Bhattacharya (1948-2014). The dictatorship is overthrown. [JC]
