(? - ) UK-born author, in Canada from 2008. In her first novel, the Equipoisal Young Adult Transferral (2015), a medical solution (see Medicine) designed to deal with all diseases has deeply affected very Near Future London. The solution, to transfer diseases from the unwell to criminals (see Crime and Punishment), though conspicuously unfeasible, has allegorical clarity. Her second novel, Tangled Planet (2018), takes place on the seemingly colonizable planet Beta Earth (see Colonization of Other Worlds) after a Generation Starship has deposited the tale's young protagonist into a complex previously-owned arena. Blair's later novels are fantasy. [JC]
