(1963- ) Norwegian author and translator of novels, children's books and debate books. Most of her works are mainstream novels, but she occasionally turns to sf: six novels can be classified as sf with elements of criticism of civilization. Her debut novel Morgen i Aftenlandet ["Morning in the Evening Country"] (1983), was followed by the apocalyptic Askefolket ["The Cinder People"] (1988) about a world of frightening Mutants after a nuclear war (see World War Three).
Another novel of note is De vises sten ["The Stone of the Wise"] (1989), exploring possible consequences of the extension of life processes (see immortality) and Transgender issues. En klode full av lys ["A Planet Filled With Light"] (1994) and Sverm ["Swarm"] (2003) are Young Adult novels. In Farvel, Babylon ["Farewell, Babylon"] (1998) Earth is threatened by an approaching Comet on course to hit and possibly destroy our planet. [CPe]
