(1931-2021) US academic (until the 1980s) and author, mostly of mystery and espionage stories; father of the fantasy author Christian Cameron, who writes as Miles Cameron. His works include two unremarkable sf thrillers, Power Play (1979) under his own name and The Sunset Gun (1983) as by George Bartram. Both are set in the Near Future; the latter, one of four otherwise nonfantastic thrillers with the Bartram byline, features the eponymous deadly Weapon: a particle-beam Ray Gun. The late novel Moody and the Fateful Lightning (2020) opens a projected fantasy series about former Roman soldier Moody who roams through time and space in a TARDIS-like wagon, here fighting evil and racism (see Race in SF) in the post-Civil War USA; a second instalment, «Moody and the Jews of Venice», was seemingly not published.
