(1976- ) US editor and author, who has been involved in the republication of works by Samuel R Delany, including The Jewel-Hinged Jaw: Notes on the Language of Science Fiction (1978; rev 2009), which he introduced. He began publishing works of genre interest with "Fragments" in Rabid Transit: Menagerie (anth 2005) edited by Ratbastard. A first substantial selection of his work has been assembled as Blood: Stories (coll 2016), its contents ranging widely (see Fantastika; Horror in SF) without any sustained focus on Genre SF, except obliquely, as in the savage but ultimately whole-hearted novelette "Where's the Rest of Me?", a spoofed Alternate World tale in which gay pulp sf writer Ronald Reagan is induced by the homophobic John W Campbell Jr to create a punitively right-wing evangelistic Religion of his own, and make millions.
With Kevin Brockmeier he edited Real Unreal: Best American Fantasy Volume III (anth 2010), an instalment in the Best American Fantasy series, for which he was overall editor. [JC]
