(1926-2025) UK actress, scriptwriter and author whose first script of genre interest was an adaptation of John Wyndham's Re-Birth (1955; rev vt The Chrysalids 1955) for BBC Radio 4 The Chrysalids (1981). She was the first woman to write for Doctor Who, with the four-part serial "Enlightenment" (1983), set on what appear to be sailing ships but are in fact Spaceships. Clegg novelized her own script as the Tie Doctor Who: Enlightenment (1984). [JC/DRL]
