(1945-2019) Australian lawyer, the third son of the Australian politician Sir Hal Colebatch (1872-1953), and author of much nonfiction written from a conservative point of view. His career as a fiction writer was long restricted to the contribution of various Ties to Larry Niven's Man-Kzin Wars Shared World enterprise, beginning with "The Colonels' Tiger" in Man-Kzin Wars VII (anth 1995) edited by Larry Niven. Most prominently, several subsequent tales focusing on the shattered but liberated planet of Wunderland, formerly a Kzin colony, were assembled as Man-Kzin Wars X: The Wunder War (coll 2003), including the novel-length "One War for Wunderland". Colebatch also contributed most of the contents of Man-Kzin Wars XI (anth 2005) edited with Larry Niven, Paul Chafe and Matthew Joseph Harrington; and was an editor, with the same co-editors, of Man-Kzin Wars XII (anth 2009). His Time Machine Troopers (2011) is an energetic Sequel by Another Hand to H G Wells's The Time Machine (1895).

Nonfiction work includes critical writing on J R R Tolkien and other fantasy authors, in particular in Return of the Heroes: The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Social Conflict (circa 1990; exp 2003 ebook) as Hal G P Colebatch, a work more concerned with rebutting perceived left-wing criticism of its subjects than exploring their virtues.
