(? -? ) UK author, who remains unidentified; it has been suggested that the setting of his Lost Race novel, The Coombsberrow Mystery (1890), on the Welsh border may hint that his surname, which is that of a town in that region, is pseudonymous. The novel unveils an Underground world inhabited by the devolved descendants of Romans (see Devolution). [JC]
