Copperman, E J

Pseudonym of US author Jeffrey Cohen (1957- ), almost all of whose works, including the Haunted Guesthouse Mysteries series beginning with Night of the Living Deed (2012) [not listed in Checklist below], are supernaturals, with an emphasis on ghosts. He is of sf interest for the Fran and Ken Stein sequence of sf detective thrillers featuring the eponymous lab-born siblings (hence the Frankenstein Monster pun of the surtitle) and beginning with Ukulele of Death (2023). In a ramifyingly complex Near Future New York, the two are inclined as professional detectives to take up cases whose clients are confused or tortured by what has been done to them in infancy, including Genetic Engineering and (more generally) experiments in Cultural Engineering. The tone throughout is surprisingly light.
Titles where Copperman's collaborator is himself as Jeff Cohen are not fantastic. [JC]
