Dank, Gloria Rand
Entry updated 11 November 2024. Tagged: Author.
(1955- ) US author whose first novel, The Forest of App (1983), was a compact and intensely told Young Adult fantasy, in which the Thinning of the old world is seen as fundamentally damaging to its survivors [for Thinning see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below]. The Galaxy Gang sequence beginning with A UFO Has Landed (1983), written with her father, Milton Dank, is also designed for Young Adult readers, but lacks its predecessor's self-sufficient balance and grace, though its primary setting in Philadelphia is colourfully displayed.
