DeFelice, Jim

Entry updated 13 April 2026. Tagged: Author.

(1956-    ) Prolific US author in various fields including successful thrillers, who began to publish work of genre interest with contributions to the Spinechillers sequence of Horror tales for young readers, beginning with Blood Red Eightball (1996) and using the series' House Name M T Coffin. Of greater sf interest are the Dreamland Technothrillers written with Dale Brown, opening with Dale Brown's Dreamland (2001) and discussed in Brown's entry. A relevant novel with a Near Future setting is The Helios Conspiracy (2009), a complexly (perhaps over-complexly) plotted action-adventure whose protagonist Andy Fisher, a special FBI agent who appeared in two previous DeFelice thrillers, must solve a ramifying mystery that begins with sabotage of a Rocket carrying a satellite intended to gather solar energy and beam it to Earth, providing a cheap and clean Power Source. This modest sf premise is more a McGuffin than actual speculation.[DRL]
