French, Sean
Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.
(1959- ) UK author, most of whose work has been in collaboration with his wife Nicci Gerard (1958- ), writing together as by Nicci French; most of their fiction consists of nonfantastic psychological thrillers. The Imaginary Monkey (1993) by French solo edges into the latticework of Fantastika through the transformation of its protagonist into a monkey (see Apes as Human; Identity Transfer); he is subsequently adopted as a pet by his wife, who thinks little of him. The protagonist of The Dreamer of Dreams (1995) similarly wishes too hard for something like revenge, in this case the death by fire of his family. [JC]
