In her third novel, The Things We Leave Behind (2023), a teenaged girl must suddenly escape Near Future Dystopian London as civic unrest explodes into violence, and the populist prime minister unleashes "Community Guardians" on his country, which they begin to "cleanse" of "extremism"; savage deportations increase.
