(1940- ) US academic, author and critic; professor emeritus at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He began to publish work of genre interest in 1980 with an essay on Ray Bradbury, "The Thematic Structure of The Martian Chronicles" in Ray Bradbury (anth 1980) edited by Martin Harry Greenberg and Joseph D Olander, as well as the major Jules Verne reference Jules Verne: A Primary and Secondary Bibliography (1980) with Judith Mistichelli and John A Van Eerde. Gallagher later compiled a useful study of Fantastic Adventures magazine, The Annotated Guide to Fantastic Adventures (1985). [DRL]
