(1910-1995) US author initially active in the Pulp magazines, best remembered for his sports stories, nonfantastic young adult tales and long career in crime fiction. His best known Genre SF work includes the human-versus-Robot boxing story Title Fight (December 1956 Fantastic Universe; 2023 ebook) as William C Gault (see Games and Sports). His last story for an sf magazine was "Escape Ferocity" (July 1958 Fantastic Universe), though he continued to publish detective novels into the early 1990s. No sf collection appeared in his lifetime, but such tales were eventually assembled as The 16th Golden Age of Science Fiction Megapack (coll 2015 ebook). [DRL]
