(1949- ) US editor and publisher whose early activity in Fandom included co-editing the 1960s fanzine Brown Study with Charlie Brown and Marsha Brown. For many years Gilbert has shared the roles of editor-in-chief and publisher of DAW Books with Betsy Wollheim (whom see). For her considerable work at DAW she has also shared Chesley Awards for best art director with Wollheim in 1990 and 1992, and received two solo Hugo awards in 2016 and 2018 in the category of best professional editor (long form).
Her only published fiction is "The General's Bane" with Mike Gilbert in Civil War Fantastic (anth 2000) edited by Martin H Greenberg. Gilbert co-edited the DAW anniversary volumes Fantasy: DAW 30th Anniversary (anth 2002) and Science Fiction: DAW 30th Anniversary (anth 2002), both with Betsy Wollheim as Elizabeth R Wollheim. [DRL]
