(? - ) US author of novels for the Young Adult market, her All That Glows sequence beginning with All That Glows (2014) being fantasy. The Walled City (2014) steps Equipoisally sideways from the kind of Dystopian tale, set in a City, that is often found in early twenty-first century work for young readers; here, the city is set in a quasi-fantasy world whose lineaments seem Asian, but without any specific attachment to history. The plot itself, though it involves Drugs, is not intentionally innovate, thought its telling – nonconsecutive chapters narrated by more than one character – is relatively unusual. Wolf by Wolf (2015), unusually, is a Young Adult Hitler Wins tale, set in an Alternate History 1956; the young protagonist, a Shapeshifter created through harsh experimentation, enters a continent-spanning motorcycle race, hoping to win the contest and gain an interview in Tokyo with the ageing Hitler, and kill him. The story is complicated by coming-of-age topoi, including difficulties with her twin brother and her love interest. The tale is told in a swift voice. [JC]
