(1850-1929) Austrian author, who sometimes spelled her given name Auguste or August, in order to disguise her sex; of sf interest is Mene Tekel: eine seltsame Geschichte (1910; trans Grace Isabel Colbron as Mene Tekel: A Tale of Strange Happenings 1912), the only title in her Joseph Muller sequence of detective thrillers of fantastic interest, as Muller bird-dogs an expedition designed to show that some ancient tablets are fake through a device that recovers light from objects from the deep past; a Lost World is tentatively entered as well.
