(1989-    ) Spanish author, active from around 2015; his first novel, Cosas vivas (2018; trans Julia Sanches as Living Things 2024), verges on the fantastic in its metaphor-dense depiction of factory farming. His second, El árbor viene (2023; trans Julia Sanches as The Mulai 2026), is a Space Opera about the Colonization of Other Worlds, initially reflective of the SF Megatext but gradually divergent. The planet in question, abandoned for a century due to the lessening of humanity's grasp on its own projects and profound failures of Ecological understanding, has seen the evolution of an exceedingly complex culture, as expressed through divergent narratives and some Linguistic disruptions. The end gives some hope of survival. [JC]
